A Journey Through My Favorite Flavors

A Journey Through My Favorite Flavors🍫

My favorite food is chocolate. I love eating it, and like me, most people enjoy chocolate too. However, many don't like it when it's overly sweet. I have tried many varieties of chocolate, including Dairy Milk and Toblerone.🍫

Dairy Milk is incredibly milky. It’s so rich that I can’t eat too much of it at once; it almost makes me feel a bit lightheaded! Still, it’s a delicious chocolate that I really love. Toblerone, on the other hand, comes in many flavors like Dark, Milk, and White chocolate. Out of those, I’m particularly fond of the White chocolate version. I absolutely love them, though it’s been a long time since I’ve had the chance to eat any.🍫

The solar system

The Solar System

The Solar System is a vast and fascinating collection of celestial bodies located in the universe. At its heart is the Sun, a massive star that provides the essential light and heat for all life. There are eight planets that revolve around the Sun in fixed paths known as orbits. These planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Mercury is the nearest planet to the Sun, while Venus is the hottest and brightest. Our planet, Earth, is unique because it is the only one known to support life. Mars is famous for its red color, and Jupiter stands out as the largest planet in the system. Saturn is well-known for its spectacular rings, and the distant ice giants, Uranus and Neptune, are the coldest. Beyond these planets, the Solar System also includes various moons, asteroids, and comets. All these objects are held in place by the Sun’s powerful gravity, creating a perfectly balanced system that scientists continue to explore.

The Beauty of Nature

The Beauty of Nature

Nature is the most beautiful and precious gift we have on Earth. It includes everything around us, such as the green trees, colorful flowers, majestic mountains, and flowing rivers. The blue sky and the bright sun make our world a wonderful place to live. Nature provides us with the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat.

We can see many animals and birds in nature, and their sounds make the environment lively. Forests are home to many creatures and help to keep the air clean. When we spend time in nature, it makes our minds feel calm and happy. Sitting under a tree or walking on the beach gives us great peace of mind.

However, it is our duty to protect nature for the future. We should not cut down trees or pollute the water and air. By planting more trees and keeping our surroundings clean, we can save our beautiful planet. If we take care of nature, nature will always take care of us.

The Coconut Tree

The Coconut Tree

The coconut tree is one of the most common and useful trees in Sri Lanka. It is known as the "Tree of Life" because every part of it can be used for a purpose. This tree grows very tall and does not have any branches. At the very top, it has a crown of large, green leaves. We get coconuts from this tree, which are essential for cooking our daily meals. Coconut milk is used to make curries tasty, while coconut oil is used for frying and for hair care. The water in the young coconut is a delicious and natural energy drink. We use the dried leaves of the tree to weave mats and to make ekel brooms for sweeping. The strong trunk of the tree provides high-quality timber to build houses and furniture. From the coconut husk, people make coir ropes, carpets, and brushes. Even the hard shell is used to create beautiful handicrafts and kitchen spoons. Because it provides food, shelter, and medicine, the coconut tree is a true blessing to us.

The Little Angel of Our Home: My Dearest Lesadi

The Little Angel of Our Home: My Dearest Lesadi

Seven months ago, a little fairy entered our lives and changed our world forever. My elder sister gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, and that was the day I officially became a "Punchi Amma" (a little aunt). We named her Lesadi, a name as lovely as she is.

At seven months old, Lesadi is a bundle of joy and mischief. She has the most enchanting smile that can brighten even the darkest day. Since my sister is a working mother, my mother and I visit my aunt’s house every day to look after the little princess. Even though she misses her mom, she spends her day happily playing and giggling with us.

She is truly the heartbeat of our family. Whenever my mother and I go to town, we never return empty-handed; we always find something special for our little girl. My brother, too, is absolutely devoted to her. Being the first baby in the family, she is showered with gifts. He has bought her countless toys and baby care essentials, while we made sure she has the best clothes and a cozy bathtub for her splashes.

The bond I share with Lesadi is beyond words. It is deep, soulful, and pure. When her mother is away at work, I feel a maternal instinct rising within me, as if I am her second mother. Watching her grow, hearing her tiny laughs, and being part of her daily life is a blessing I cherish every single day. I love our little "Chutikki" more than words can express.

A Symbol of Infinite Peace

 A Symbol of Infinite Peace

The Buddhist flag is not just a piece of colored cloth; it is a profound symbol that carries the soul of millions of Buddhists worldwide. Born in the sacred land of Sri Lanka in 1885, this flag represents the Six-Colored Aura (Chabbannarangsi) that radiated from the Buddha’s body at the sublime moment of His Enlightenment.

Each stripe tells a story of devotion: the Blue flows like a calm ocean of loving-kindness, while the Yellow reminds us of the Middle Path, free from all extremes. The vibrant Red  stands for the blessings of a disciplined life, and the pure White reflects the timeless purity of the Dhamma. The Orange glows with the light of deep wisdom, and finally, the Mixed Color weaves all these virtues together, showing that the Buddha’s truth is universal and for everyone.

When we see this flag fluttering gently in the breeze during Vesak or Poson, it fills our hearts with a sense of deep healing and pride. It is a silent messenger of non-violence and compassion, reminding the world that even in the darkest times, the light of the Dhamma can bring us together as one human family.

A Natural Remedy for My Mind

A Natural Remedy for My Mind🐟🐠

In my home, there is a place where I feel truly free. It is our fish tank, a place where I can forget everything and feel a deep sense of relaxation. Fish keeping is one of my older brother’s hobbies.  💆‍♂️

In our tank, we have a white gourami, some carp, a catfish, and a beautiful pair of golden Butterfly Koi🐠, which are my favorites. There are also two orange and white fish who are very greedy and eat the most during feeding time! While the white gourami stays calm and swims peacefully, watching the others rush for food brings a wonderful lightness to my heart. 💝

My brothers👬 often bring new fish when they have time. We also have an outdoor pond, but unfortunately, a stork once attacked the fish there, and some went missing.

I truly believe that watching fish swim is a medicine for the soul. It helps me forget my problems and find mental peace. I am sure many of you would agree that an aquarium is a perfect way to heal the mind. 😇

Different Worlds, One Love

  • Different Worlds, One Love

I have two brothers who mean the world to me. My elder brother, Thalisha Anjana, is 23 years old. He has completed his professional education and is currently employed. Although he can be a bit short-tempered and prefers his own company, he deeply loves my younger brother and me. He isn't someone who openly expresses his affection, and while he can be quite firm with us at home, I know he is a truly loving person at heart.💝

My younger brother, Thejana Sandupama, is 16 years old and is preparing for his G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination this year. He is like my shadow, always following me around! Even though he can be a bit of a "nuisance" at times, he is my dear brother. He is incredibly talented, especially with vehicles. Even without formal training, he manages all the repairs and maintenance of our vehicles at home. His dream is to pursue a course in Automobile and Motor Mechanics.💝

I truly love them both and look forward to seeing them succeed in their own beautiful journeys in life.

The Eternal Magic of the Sea

The Eternal Magic of the Sea

The ocean is not just a massive body of water; it is a profound world of emotions and a mirror to the human soul. For centuries, the sea has been a source of inspiration, offering a unique sense of unlimited freedom to anyone who stands before its vast blue horizon. As the waves crash rhythmically against the shore, they seem to wash away the worries and noise of our busy lives, replacing them with a deep, meditative silence.

One of the most powerful lessons the ocean teaches us is humility. Its immense vastness reminds us of how small we are in this grand universe. Yet, in that smallness, we find a strange comfort. The sea acts as a silent teacher of patience and resilience. While the rough, stormy waves represent the difficult times we face in life, their constant return to the beach symbolizes the inner strength we need to keep moving forward. There is an undeniable mystery hidden in its depths, a quiet power that commands respect and wonder.

Beyond its strength, the sea is a place of incredible beauty and peace. Walking on the soft, warm sand offers a gentle escape from the world, while the cool water touching our feet brings instant relaxation. At night, when the moonlight dances upon the ripples, it creates a magical and romantic atmosphere that stirs the heart. Just like the endless ocean, our own hopes and dreams should have no boundaries. Ultimately, the sea is a reminder of the beautiful and sacred bond between humanity and the natural world, proving that even in its simplest wave, there is a story of life.

The Rice Tree: A Gift of Nature

The Rice Tree: A Gift of Nature

The jackfruit tree in our garden is like a member of our family that I have known since childhood. When the sun is harsh, the cool breeze under its branches brings great comfort to my mind and body. Known as the "Rice Tree" of Sri Lanka, it is a great gift that satisfies the hunger of our people. Seeing the tree full of fruit reminds me of the endless kindness of nature. I deeply appreciate this valuable tree, which has nourished our ancestors for generations.

The sunlight filtering through its leaves creates a beautiful and peaceful atmosphere in our surroundings. The jackfruit tree is a noble giver, providing food and shade to both humans and animals without expecting anything in return. Listening to the rhythm of rain falling on its leaves brings a wonderful sense of calm to a busy mind. I feel that this evergreen tree is a precious heritage we must protect for the future. Ultimately, the jackfruit tree is not just a plant; it is a silent blessing in our lives.

The National Flag of Sri Lanka

The National Flag of Sri Lanka.

The national flag of Sri Lanka, popularly known as the Lion Flag, is the primary symbol of our country's freedom and identity. It has a long history and was first hoisted on February 4, 1948, when Sri Lanka gained independence. The flag features a majestic golden lion holding a sword in its right paw on a maroon background. This lion represents the bravery of the nation, while the sword symbolizes sovereignty and justice.

The design of the flag is rich with deep meanings and represents the unity of all communities. There are four bo leaves in the corners of the maroon area, representing the four virtues: Metta, Karuna, Muditha, and Upeksha. On the left side, there are two vertical stripes of orange and green. The orange stripe represents the Tamil community, and the green stripe represents the Muslim community. The entire flag is surrounded by a yellow border, which signifies the unity and harmony among all citizens of the country.

As Sri Lankans, the national flag is a source of great pride for us. It is hoisted during the Independence Day celebrations, at schools, and during important state functions. Whenever the national flag is raised, we stand at attention to show our honor and respect. It reflects our rich culture and the strength of our people. We must always protect the dignity of our flag and feel proud to be Sri Lankans.

The Silent Hero of My Life

My father, Upul Hemantha Dassanayake, is the greatest strength in my life. He is the person who always guides us on the right path. To me, he is my entire world. Even today, he works incredibly hard and does everything within his power to provide us with a good education.

He has a very kind and compassionate heart; he is a loving person who is easily moved by emotions. He is also selfless and social, finding joy even in the simplest things in life. Although he can be a little strict at times, he is generally a very gentle and calm father.

I love my father more than anyone else in this world. As the saying goes, daughters always have a special bond and immense love for their fathers.

A Bond Beyond Friendship

My best friend is Uvidi💝, and we have been close since Grade 8. She is a beautiful person, both inside and out, and she has been like a sister to me. Her family is incredibly supportive, especially with my studies📕, and her two younger sisters love me like their own. Their home feels like my own family, and we spend a lot of time talking and sharing our lives with each other.

Uvidi has a heart of gold and is a very compassionate person who loves💕 making others happy☺️ with surprises. Blue is her absolute favorite color, and nothing makes her happier than sharing a delicious plate of Kottu, which is her favorite food. She is a loyal companion who stands by me through everything, and I am truly grateful to have such a kind-hearted friend in my life.🫂🫰

The Rhythm of My Soul

The Rhythm of My Soul

Dance is the most cherished subject of my life; to me, it is synonymous with life itself. I began my journey in dance even before my preschool years, driven by an inborn passion for the art. Although no one in my family has pursued this path, I feel a profound soulful bond with it.

There are various traditions in dance. In Sri Lanka, we have three main styles: Kandyan, Low-country, and Sabaragamuwa. Globally, there are beautiful traditions like Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kathakali, and Ballet. I have a deep love for all three Sri Lankan styles, as well as Kathak and Bharatanatyam. I look forward to studying Kathak and Bharatanatyam in the future, as I am enchanted by their rhythmic movements. My heart belongs to any dance form that flows with a beautiful rhythm.

 My Favorite Actors

My favorite actress is Rashmika Mandanna, and I truly love her and the films she stars in. She has a wonderful way of presenting characters that feel very real and relatable to us. Among her movies, Geetha Govindam, Dear Comrade, and Kirik Party (Selfie Shuru Madida) are the three I love the most. Recently, the marriage of Rashmika and Vijay Deverakonda took place, which made many fans happy. They are a perfect match both on-screen and in real life, and most people wanted to see them together. Their great chemistry was something we felt deeply whenever they acted in movies. They are both my favorite actress and actor because of their beautiful personalities. It is a proven fact that they have a huge fan base and immense love from people in Sri Lanka. I believe they are a very beautiful couple who look great together. I am so happy to see my favorite stars starting their life journey as one.
